Crisp Morning

Besides oils, Fred Scherer used the unusual medium of scratch board, a paperboard that is coated with white clay and then completely covered with a layer of jet-black ink. He created an image by scratching through the black ink surface to reveal the white surface beneath. Many were done in his nineties.
